On June 21st, 2025, artist Yoshimi Katahira took part in the 14th edition of the Festival of Cultures and Languages in Paris. She presented her artwork inspired by Japanese culture, during a day full of vibrant cultural exchange and diversity.

Between 2012 and 2024, I explored the world of publishing in France — from my first manga publications to the creation of two illustrated books on Japanese folktales and yokai. These works have become bridges between my cultural roots and my artistic path in France.

By reimagining the Crane tale through kamishibai, I aimed to build a bridge between manga culture and audiences unfamiliar with its conventions. This project marked a personal turning point in my artistic journey.
